Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat

in Les Jardins Volupté
The weather is expected to be 72 degrees and sunny
When we were there in mid-September 2023, the maximum temperature was only 80 degrees, but it felt very hot. It was beach weather and the Mediterranean Sea was warm enough for everyone to swim in. We swam nearly every day that week!
Hopefully this informs your decision on what clothes to pack and whether or not to bring swimsuits!

Sometimes flying into Milan (MXP) can be more affordable, we’ve tried this option ourselves, but you’ll also need to take a train to Villefranche-sur-Mer (search train options)
Flying into Lyon (LYS) and taking a train down to the Nice area is yet another option!
The main Lyon train stations:
Lyon Saint-Exupéry (at LYS airport, also has a 29-minute tram ride to the city center)
Lyon Part-Dieu (at city center)

We recommend flying into the Nice airport (NCE)

The options above are great, but we also highly recommend checking out the Airbnb stays we’ve compiled below. It’s our favorite way to experience the area!

If you’d prefer to feel more immersed in the towns, or if having a kitchen and a bit of extra space sounds nice, we’ve put together a list of stays for you to consider! You can filter and sort by various details.
Be sure to check whether the stay can be extended, just in case you’d like to arrive a little earlier or stay a bit longer in the area!
-
If you arrive in the area before your check-in time, you can explore without lugging around your suitcases by using a luggage storage service.
Bounce is an app we've used to locate nearby storage locations
You can also ask the host of your stay if they can accommodate! We’ve had success with both hotels and Airbnb stays storing our luggage until check-in.
The main train stations in the area are:

Villefranche-sur-Mer

Some restaurants we’ve visited & recommend:
-
Grab some gelato and explore the Old Town
Have a beach day at la plage des Marinières (one of the few sandy beaches in the area). Bring a beach towel or book at the beach club to eat while you relax!
Rent a boat with Dark Pelican in the neighboring town of Beaulieu-sur-Mer
VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-MER

The trains in this area are so convenient that, if you’re interested, we recommend a day trip to any of the cities along the main route. We’ve been lucky to explore some of the stops on this route, so here are some suggestions:
Menton
Antibes
Our favorite beach club is Plage Keller (and/or if you’d like to try a restaurant right on the beach: Restaurant Le César)
Marché provençal
Cap d’Ail
La Pinède restaurant (amazing ocean view & located near the train station’s stop)
Plage Mala (take a beautiful hike to a beach cove)
Cannes
We’ve only had a chance to briefly explore Boulevard de la Croisette but there are tons of restaurants, beach clubs, and shopping areas to try here
If you have a rental car or are willing to take an Uber, we recommend visiting Saint-Paul-de-Vence
This is a beautiful area to stroll around, as it's one of the oldest villages on the French Riviera
Restaurant with a hilltop view: Les Remparts
Jewelry/Antique store where we got Tony’s engagement presents: La Balance
